{come visit & be...} lost in the stacks

Danielle has been kind enough to feature my library
on her excellent blog A Work in Progress

Please do pop over for a look and a chat.

(I didn't do any dusting at all!)

  1. vicki, what a wonderful post! I loved seeing your shelves & hearing more about your books - though at first I couldn't believe that the boxes were yours :) I had never heard of Biggles, but I agree completely about Auntie Mame.

    1. Thank you Lisa May - the boxes are a sad, sad sight, I agree. But, protected, sheltered, remembered - one day they will find their space again.

  2. Vicki, hi from me in Devon, UK! I've just had a look at your books on Danielle's blog and have really enjoyed seeing them as they resemble my own shelves (not content, but in how they are arranged - not quite random, but the organization is messed up when a book won't fit in and has to go somewhere else rather than with it's partner, i.e. gardening with gardening, children's books with children's books ...
Love your cat! We used to have a ginger tom called Charlie, a companion to a grey and white tom called Oliver (after Oliver Cromwell and Charles 1). Both long gone now, and still much missed.

    1. Thank you Margaret - glad you enjoyed having a look. I don't think I'll ever be organised enough to sort my books alphabetically, though sometimes I think by colour might be interesting! We had about 10 cats when I was a child, so it is a culture shock to only be maintaining two at the moment (there's another ginger called Roger). Like books, cats also furnish a home.

  3. I know it's not an official bookcase, but there is a wonderful sense of order and quantity which does my heart good. I'm tempted to compile my collection as such, for I have no room...

    1. Thank you, Bellezza - one day I would love to have a proper full wall (actually, let's make that walls) of matched shelving. Even then I suspect I wouldn't be too orderly, but I would get top marks for quantity!

  4. I am so late in catching up with my blog reader but it was a wonderful surprise to see your shelves - I suspect I could happily spend hours in your stacks given our shared taste for classics. I do feel sorry for the books in boxes though... :)

    1. Thanks for dropping by, Alex. I feel that I've made a lot of people anxious about those books in boxes now! But *one* *day* they'll find a better home.
